| ABOUT US |
| Images of Hope is a non-profit organization that brings awareness to childhood cancers and illnesses through photography. We offer special sessions free of charge to children and familes who are dealing with cancer. Finding out your child has cancer or a life threatening illness is every parents worst nightmare. Although relatively rare, children continue to be diagnosed with cancer each year and it continues to remain the number one killer of America's children - more than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma and AIDS combined. By capturing images of children with these life threatening diseases we hope to spread awareness and capture priceless moments that will last a lifetime. For most of these families, pictures are the last thing they would go out and have done while in the middle of dealing with a crisis. But years later, as they look back, these images will be the memories of a hero and the hope for future children who will be diagnosed with a devastating disease. About the Founder: Jessica Oatman Images of Hope was started in January 2008 as a way to give back to all those who have helped our son and family deal with childhood Leukemia. My son, Montana, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on November 16, 2007 at the age of 2. Since then, Montana has gone through numerous blood transfusions, spinal taps, bone marrow checks and 3 surgeries. This doesn't count the chemo and medicine in which he takes on a daily basis. Montana is now in remission but still has a long two year road ahead of him. Since his diagnosis our lives have changed drastically. It now entails weekly doctor appointments, blood counts, watching what he eats and where he plays. Photography has been a great outlet and a wonderful way to document his journey. As we look back at the many photographs, it's then that we realize what we have really been through. |
